It was a cold October night.
My good friend Cassadie and I enjoyed making poor decisions. A good time to us, was going out driving around, the college town we lived in, looking for trouble. One night while we were home bored we were struck with an amazing idea. We decided to drive around looking for people who needed a ride. Our plan was to drive complete strangers anywhere they needed to go!
It was approximately 11:30pm on a Friday night. We drove, down by the big state college, looking for people walking down the street.
Out of nowhere I saw a man RUNNING down the street. Now this man was not out for a jog. He wasn’t dressed in sweats. He was fully clothed in jeans and a button down long sleeved shirt, typical man clothes. I said “Cassadie , I think we found one!” I made Cassadie go around the block and pull up next to him at a turtle speed, as I proceeded to yell out of my window. “ Do you need a ride?” The man looked at me as if I were foreign. I told him I wasn’t crazy, he just looked like he needed to get somewhere quickly.
The man agreed to let us drive him. He got in the car, and wouldn’t tell us why he was running exactly, but it was clear that he had partaken in a few cocktails that lovely fall evening. He needed to go only a few blocks further from where we were. We took him there and he tried to pay us. We told him no, we were just trying to start up our own volunteer sober taxi company, and we were doing some field-testing.
Cassadie and I moved on to our next round of hitchhikers.
It didn’t take long before we found two more gentlemen walking leisurely down the street. We flipped a bitch as I like to call it, and pulled up next to them. “Excuse me boys, would you like a ride to wherever it is that you are going?” They looked at each other and encouraged us to pull into a parking lot.
Once we pulled into the lot, they approached my window. They asked us why we would want to give them a ride. We told them we were just being good citizens. They got in the car and gave us directions for where they needed to go. We started driving them, and they began to tell us how stupid we were for offering them a ride. They told us that they could be serial killers, or Cassadie and I could be killers. I told them that if that were true, then they would be the dumb shits, falling for the old, hot girls in a car offering sober rides, routine!
We arrived where they needed to be and dropped them off.
We were a little discouraged at this point, about how uneventful the evening had been and decided to find our way home. It just so happened that driving home meant driving through down town where there were loads of dumb shits walking around drunk. At this point it was about 1:00 am.
As we drove through the twenty million stop lights down town, I saw an attractive man standing in front of a local hot spot, a Mexican restaurant, holding out his thumb. I looked at Cassadie. I gave her that face that said, PLEASE pull over and let the hot man in the car!
She pulled up close to the man and I rolled down the window. “ Do you need a ride somewhere?” He drunkenly said yes, but not only that his family needed a ride too! “How many” I asked. This hot guy was toting around his mom, dad, and aunt. I looked at Cassadie with puppy dog eyes and she reluctantly agreed. I told him “hell yes, go get them and cram in the back seat!” He went inside the restaurant and came out plus three. Cassadie drives a little sporty two-door car. Four adult size people fitting in the back, is a sight to behold.
All of the family was drunk, and could NOT stop thanking us. They told us they had been waiting for a cab for quite a while. They told us they had been drinking all night long, and the hot guy told us he was president of a fraternity.
When we finally arrived at the frat house where the entire family was sleeping, they invited us in to have shots with them. I was reluctant, but Cassadie said that it was going to be a great time, so I agreed. There we were in some frat house living room with a really hot guy and three of his family members, who we just so happened to pick up for fun at one o’clock in the morning.
We all gathered in the kitchen where we shared shots of Patron, and Cinnamon schnapps. Then we migrated back to the living room. They told us to sit down and tell them our stories. Cass and I shared with them the facts; we were Stephens College girls, and looking for a good time!
The family began telling us how wonderful the hot guy was, but it didn’t take long, before the hot guy, named Scott, started telling us why he was amazing himself.
He went on and ON about how great he was. President of the fraternity, soon to be graduating with honors, and working at a bank (as someone in a high position, with big importance) it was at this moment when he whipped out his business cards, and said, “I’m a pretty big deal”. It was also at that moment when I decided that it was probably time to get moving on out of there.
I looked at Cassadie , and gave her that look that says “lets high tale it out of here!” We made an excuse about getting up early for work, hoping that they would let us leave without question. They decided that we needed to have photos to remember them by. We agreed and posed for about 5 pictures. I’m pretty sure that in one of them Scott’s dad was making some suggestive poses with Cassadie and I.
We left the frat house that night, being thankful that we went to an all girl’s college where we didn’t have to deal with big shot frat boys on a daily basis. We also left that night having one hell of a story to tell our friends the next day.
