It had been probably a year since our first interaction with hitchhiking. Cassadie had deserted me and moved back to her hometown to pursue a different career, but she was back to visit for one night only!
Cassadie was going to come back for a night, and we were going all out. We decided that we hadn’t gone dancing in ages, and it was about time I let my hair down and shake it for the boys.
Tonight we were joined by our good friend Jalonna. We were a brunette, a blonde, and a red head out for a night on the town, and we meant business. Our first item up for business was to meet some on Jalonna’s guy friends before heading out to the club. I think that it is wise to always have some boys on your side when you go out dancing, it’s like a safety. I personally am NOT a fan of dancing, I always seem to get ass raped by men who are not exactly my type. Bringing along some guys, even if you don’t know them extremely well helps in this situation. All you have to do is make eye contact with them, give them the signal (Scared eyes) and they come to your rescue. Sometimes they just turn you around and pull you into them like you are their property, which can be affective. Other times they plainly tell the jack ass to back off.
Anyway we met the guys and started making the long walk over to the club. We danced for a VERY long time with nothing too exciting to report. We became very sweaty and it was time to vacate the premises. The girls and I went outside for air, and to our advantage, there was a bar across the street. We went in and had a round of drinks.
We decided that the night had been fun, but we were at the point in our drunken states, where it was time to go home. We left the bar, and when we walked outside we were faced with making the long walk back to the guys’ house.
We started walking when we came across a rickshaw! Now I’m sure you have seen these before, they are little carriages fit for two, pulled by a bicycle. I have to admit that I had previous rickshaw driving experience and I felt the need to re-live that memory, right then and there. I told the girls, “That is how we are getting home!” I approached the man who road the rickshaw, and made him an offer. “How about I drive you and my friends in the rickshaw back to where we need to go, and then we tip you, even though you will just be added dead weight I will be driving.” The man laughed at me and said no. I went on to tell him that I had previous experience driving a rickshaw, while in a drunken state years before. He still wasn’t having it.
When this didn’t work I started yelling at people on the street. “Who wants ME to drive them in this rickshaw where ever they need to go?” People started cheering me on, and encouraging my bad behavior. All the while my friends are standing there watching me fight for right to drive that damn rickshaw.
When the bicycle man STILL said no I decided that I needed to just get on the bike and show him I was capable. I climbed onto the bike in my platform heels and put tried pedaling. I moved a couple of inches and bicycle man caught me. He put his foot down and started yelling at me. I was creating a scene and trying to build his business. I put all of my weight on one pedal in an effort to make a getaway. It didn’t work.
The bicycle man started threatening me, when a man in a wheelchair approached bicycle man asking for a ride. I instantly felt terrible and got off of the bike. I stood there with my friends as we watched bicycle man help the man into the carriage, and load the wheel chair too. Then they drove away.
Well that didn’t work. We decided to start hiking back to the house. There we were three drunk girls walking probably two miles home. I don’t know why God blessed me with a brilliant mind, but he did, and I have put it to good use, ever since I realized my potential. I was struck with a brilliant plan. “Cassadie , do you remember the time we drove around offering people rides for free?” I suggested that it was only our good karma that someone would eventually come along and give US a ride in turn.
We walked down a not so busy street holding out our thumbs to cars. About three cars passed when an SUV pulled over. A lovely man asked us where we were going. Being the outspoken member of the group, I told him that we needed to get a ride to the boys’ house where we began our night, to pick up a few things, and then out of nowhere I mentioned that we also needed to go to Wal-Mart. The girls looked at me. I had my eyes on the driver (waiting for his reaction) as he thought over the plan. He said “I’m not doing anything else, I could do that for you.”
We thought we were the luckiest girls at that point, and hopped in the car. The man drove us to the guys’ house and I offered to run in and get our things quickly so we could also make it over to Wal-Mart. I knew that if we were going to keep this unsuspecting man on the line, we needed to act fast. I attempted to get out of his car but couldn’t get the door to open. I decided to climb out the passenger side window. I flipped my body out onto the driveway, and wondered into the strangers’ house to get our things. By the time I made it back to the car, they had the car door open waiting for me. I got in, and told our driver to PLEASE take us to Wal-Mart so I could pick up some bottled water.
He laughed at me while making eyes with Cassadie in the rear view mirror, and agreed. The minute we walked into the store all of the girls headed for the bathroom. When we came out, our driver was not where we had left him. Jalonna suggested that he left us there, and started criticizing me for making him take us to the store. At that very moment our driver walked out of the men’s room. Hallelujah!
We started perusing the store for water, when it hit me. We hadn’t taken a single picture to commemorate the three Amiga’s night on the town. I quickly directed us to the technology section of the store where I picked up a disposable camera (with flash). I unwrapped it and started taking pictures. We took funny pictures all over the store. The pictures mostly consisted of us in compromising positions. My favorite pic, was of me trying to roll down an aisle in a tire. We were asked to leave twice, but stayed until all of our pictures were taken. We proceeded to checkout at 3:00a.m. Our friend then drove us back to campus where we said goodbye.
I’d like to say that that was the end of this adventure but, there is more. Cassadie had gone back to her home state, and I had just gotten the film back from being developed. I was out at a bar having a drink with a friend, when I spotted a man that looked familiar to me. I looked at him a few times when finally it clicked. I had met him before, it was the man who drove us safely to Wal-Mart, and home that night! I ran outside and grabbed the photos from my car, and went to the bar to order the man a beer. I approached him, handed him the beer, and asked him if I looked familiar. He said yes but he didn’t know where from. I then handed him the photos. He laughed for a good ten minutes. We are now friends on Facebook, and will always share that night in Wal-Mart forever!!!!
i love this story.
